Hi Doug,

can a multi-line input be used in the filter query? If so, HOW?

Regards
Michael

Sorry, I just found that in the .php file:

'textarea' => array(
'rows' => 5,
'cols' => 50),

in the $opts['fdd']['Time'] = array() definition by default.

I dont understand what that is for, because removing those lines give the same result.
So I thought that would perhaps make it possible to enter more than one word in the filter/query box.

Try reading the documentation. Twice.

I know it can be very confusing for non-programmer phpMyEdit beginners, but reading the documentation will take less time than posting questions that others may find difficult to interpret, and then hoping to receive an answer. In the earliest stage of development there was NO documentation and I had to scrounge up info from a variety of sources in order to assist with creating the documentation.

Hi Doug,
I know that very well....and the very first thing I did, was RTFM.....Not only twice.

And you are right.....as non-programmer I try to understand first and then try to implement.
Did a lot of trial and error before posting a question here.
Sometimes I can manage things and that feels very good, but sometimes I cant.

Regarding the 'textarea' thing I found three references in the manual (I am using the PDF manual because it allows to make an overall search) and one said:
" It is also possible to specify the size of a textarea used to give multi-line input."

I did not understand that "multi-line input" thing. No idea if "input" refers to content of the MySQL database file or to a user input, e.g. into a search/filter field.

Removed that formatting and did not find any difference.

As I know, sometimes one should use a specific syntax to make things work and sometimes this is not well documented because it was somehow implicitly clear, every user would know that.

And even reading the manual again, I cannot understand that.

I deared to post my question here, because I was sure, for somebody out there, my questions are "stupid" and very easy to answer.
Same happenes to me in my electronic workshops where I can give easy shortcuts to people who cant see the wood for the trees or just need a tiny jump-start to find a solution.

Dont mind..... I will be able to live without that information.

Dont bother answering my questions

Again, I am very thankful for all your help.... seems the forum is not very populated in the recent years.

My regards
Michael

For almost two years the forum was plagued by thousands of spam posts and no one with access to the server was available to stop the spam and change the programming to prevent spam. A lot of users stopped visiting the forum.

Now I see the reference to multi-line in the documentation, where the example is set for 1 row.

In page modes Add, Change, or coPy you would see a difference.

But the large textarea where you enter data is not displayed in List mode.

Try in Add mode with
'textarea' => array( 'rows' => 5, 'cols' => 50),

Then try in Add mode with
'textarea' => array( 'rows' => 10, 'cols' => 100),

If the above are not set, then probably some default value is applied in Add, Change, and coPy modes.

I offer my apologies for the confusing documentation and my lack of understanding of your initial post.

Oh great! I see......as I am ONLY using list mode, I was never able to find out what the difference was.
So I will not bother with that anymore!

No apology needed, problem sits - as mostly - in front of the screen here ;-)

I am infinitely grateful for your help!

Michael
