Well found!

What have you used to get it to work? I'd like to try and update the code so that it automatically generates codes that works.

Thanks

I used the very first hack on that thread. Unfortunately, its an ugly hack to the htmlarea.js file. Maybe you can find another way to do it without messing with this file. But it works and this definitely the problem

One more thing: Do you know how to make the HTML created from HTMLArea be generated in LIST view. So, if sombody makes a word bold or creates a link, it would be cool to see the ACTUAL link in LIST view rather than the "a href" junk. I know strip_tags is an option but it would be great to get the real deal... any thoughts?

Have you tried setting the 'escape' option on that field to 'false'? I would expect that to turn off the quoting of the html.

Beautiful.

NOTE: You should have 'strip_tags' AND 'escape' set to false to get it working nicely!

Another question [we should call this the HTMLArea FAQ thread]: I am now getting HTMLArea to be very wide in my table. Too wide, in fact, that it blows out my outside table (no good)in IE. Any way to easily restrict the size of the HTMLArea box?

It seems that even when I change the 'columns' attribute in the calling app, nothing happens. Any advice?

BTW, anything I can help YOU with?

Thanks.

This is the new thread

Also, here is the hack:

Code:
// ugly hack
if (textarea.offsetWidth == 0)
{
   this._ta_size = {
      w: 550,
      h: 250
   };
}
else
{
   this._ta_size = {
      w: textarea.offsetWidth,
      h: textarea.offsetHeight
   };
}

This goes in: HTMLArea.prototype.generate function
Around line 616
