This is quite a generalized question... but here it goes.
I'd like to give the user the ability to selectively and interactively hide any number of rows and/or columns in the list mode.
Ideally this would be done using some kind of small button or link within the column and/or row heading that when clicked would redraw the table without the selected row and/or column.
Then maybe at the bottom there could be a list of the columns that are hidden and clicking on the name would re-display the column. For rows this would be a little more tricky, but you get the idea.
Ultimately I want the user to be able to create a table with just the information that want and then be able to print the table.
I don't know where to begin on implementing such a thing. I took at look at the phpMyEdit_report extension, but this isn't really what I'm looking for. Although it *may* be a starting point for me.
The table I'm working with has nearly 150 fields and over 400 records.
Many of you will suggest that I do not display all of the fields in list mode, but only in view mode. Unfortunately this isn't really an option. The very purpose of the application I'm creating is that it is a massive table with lots of information.
As always I'm so impressed by the skill and dedication of the Open Source community. Thank you, thank you, thank you. :)

you will have to code lot. basically:
- some screen to choose columns (with checkboxes or what), then submitting an array of shown columns, unsetting the rest from $opts['fdd']
- extra column with checkboxes on which rows to display. get the ids and use it in 'filters'.
that should be it.
