when I installed it, and run phpMyEditSetup.php and go through giving username/password and giving table details, it generated a file which did nothing at all when i run it :

What to do now so that it generate a file which does something on table i selected ?

This was a problem in some versions of the setup file. Make sure that you're using the latest version - if necessary get the version from the CVS

That is a bug - does not create code to operate on
databases if you select check boxes to generate
HTML headers and footers.
It is reported as corrected in CVS versions.
