Doug let me know about this:

Here's a link to another calendar popup ... somewhat cleaner looking than the one used for the donated calendar extension for phpMyEdit.

http://www.mattkruse.com/javascript/calendarpopup/

If someone would like to start with the extension implementation, let me know.

OK - I know I'm bound to be biased as I wrote the current calendar popup, but I can't see what we gain out of it. The current calendar can be set up to be as simple as this - that's just the defaults (that's easy enough to change), but it is much more flexible. This new one is also implemented as a popup, so anyone with a popup blocker probably wouldn't get to see it. The current one is implemented purely in DHTML with no popups.

As far as implementing it is concerned, I actually think that it would be fairly straightforward to modify the existing calendar popup extension to use this code.

BTW - should we now start to consider whether the HTMLCAL extension should be implemented in the main class. It's getting more and more complex to keep it in step.

ajh-
I can't get your popup calender extension to work with Apple Safari Browser. Any suggestions.

Also I would like the calendar icon to be displayed beside the input field, but I can't figure out how to accomplish that

Hi Ryan,

I don't have access to an Apple so it's quite difficult for me to test. I know that Safari is based on the KHTML widget in KDE, so I'll have a look and see if it works with that.

What are the symptoms that you're getting?

UPDATE:
You should be able to use an icon for the button by using the IMG tab for the button text. I haven't tried it, but it should work.

The symptoms I'm getting are as follows:
The pop calender comes up fine when I click on the button to the right of the input field; however when I mouse over any of the dates on the calendar, it does not display the date at the bottom of the calendar, like it does in MSIE or Netscape browsers. It displays Javascript code, then when I click on a day to insert it into the input field, it puts the Javascript code into the input field.

I'm stumped.... it's obviously a problem with the Safari Browser, because it works fine in other browsers.

Thanks,

Ryan

It was just a thought (that is the reason of poll). I personally do not use calendar popup extension, thought I plan to use it in the Metafox (with HTMLarea).

If current calpopup extension is good, there is certainly no need for a new one :-)
