Why do some
book publishers
change a manuscript so much before publication? What makes them decide which parts need cutting? Who gets the final say when editors and authors disagree? How do publishers judge whether a difficult topic will connect with readers? And when does improving a book quietly become changing what the writer originally wanted to say? What do experienced writers honestly think?
