to improve documentation it would be great to have a sample database of 3-4 connected tables to show all possibilities of pme.
every options will be used in this sample db.
what model should this be ?
a classic writer-book-invoices,
a computer room :-)

This is very good idea!
Such schema, and generated phpMyEdit scripts should be also used on the new website, to show users what phpMyEdit can do.
However we have to find an flexible example from life, where all phpMyEdit features can be shown. Ideas are welcome.
My very first idea - an company:
* persons / employees
* departments (every has one chief)
* etc.

a very good beginning.
changes i would make:
- less tables (max 6) with better names
- a link from beggining to working samples (it took me a while to find them :-) )
- a looooot of playing with options
- some triggers
- links from sources to documentation and back (is this possible?)

Just an idea :
Could we write a sample FAQ implementation ?
tables :
-faqentrys : main table,
* ID
* blob text
* title
* date submitted
* date updated
* faqcategories_ID
-faqcategories
* ID
* title
- links
* ID
* title
* URL
* faqentrys_ID
We could use it in real life (I think we need a FAQ)
And make a demo available for sample purpose ?
Maybe just another silly idea ;-)

yes, faq would avoid a lot of forum questions :)
if db model:
-faqentrys : main table,
* ID
* * question some char
* * answer some char
(probably question == title and answer == blob)
(is blob searchable/filerable ? i'm not sure of implementation in MySQL)
last updated - via timestamp or a nice sqlw :) ? (i prefer the second one)
FAQ could be located at the top: Main | FAQ | Show bugs | ...

yep.

Full text search is possible would be possible, but this is not a phpMyEdit feature.
This can be done with additionnal input box and playing directly on $opts['filters'];

Don't know.
We have to add some fields to show 'tab' feature.
We may use locking/unlocking to show some triggers.
Where can we use 'multiple select' ?
Can we write a list of feature we want to show and put our ideas in front ?

so let's make it a feature ;)
i meant searching for *word*

since there are only 3 fields, this will be hard...
maybe second tab with some voting on questions (extra buttons in help area)

of course, for change (answering questions)
| hbernard wrote: |

if F to select several faqcategories (it is hard to find a better example)
| hbernard wrote: |

shall we start a bug report to be able to post config files there ?
and i forgot, something like project_id in all tables (since there are 5 projects on this site)

I'm on the way, but this is another story.

filtering works with blob, if this is what you meant.

Nepto will answer to this.

Keep it simple. We're talking about phpmyedit, not platon.

Well, here are my notes to the topics:
Some time ago, Doug made nice graphics, which I plan to use on the new phpMyEdit website. However due to lack of time, new website was never created.
We really need neew website, because phpMyEdit becomes more and more popular and I think it will be even more pupular when 5.4 stable with nice features will come out.
The new website could be hosted on phpMyEdit.org and maintained via Platon SDG CVS repository. I can give even more persons access to website repository. If there are some volunteers to build phpMyEdit website, just let us know.
It is part of this debate, what should be on that webite. I think at least this:
* introduction page, why is phpMyEdit so useful
* basic configuration, some nice up-to-date screenshots
* working demo (michal's idea above)
* link to download
* link to forum
* link to documentation
* anything else what could be useful
Website design do not need to follow Platon.SK design and I will be really happy if such design will be original in some acpect. However I have no problem if design will be similar to Platon.SK.

next two weeks i will be very busy, so currently i cannot contribute a lot. however you may expect my comments :)

First banner is nice.
However I would prefer that
"instant MySQL table editor and code generator"
would become an official phpMyEdit "motto".
But if there are some better ideas...

So how we are on this?
If there is someone who want to make set of example scripts, please do so. Try to use as much phpMyEdit features as possible.
We need these scripts at least for testing purposes, to see if nothing major is not broken after fixing/implementing new issue.

It is the same documentation as the one available for download. Platon.SK runs over phpMyEzin (Metafox by new). This content management system has posssibility to run any other PHP application under itself. In fact, it can run also remote applications and simple applications (pure HTML files).
So it basically includes HTML files. The name of these files are according to ID in DocBook SGML files. These IDs can change from time to time, but I suppose they are more or less stable.
Feel free to ask if you have more questions...
