Hey..

OK.. I installed the htmlarea/calpop extension and now I am having an issue with htmlarea. I am seeing the toolbar but the actual textarea is missing. In other words, theres no space between the top toolbar and the bottom "path" bar... The tool bar is sitting right on top of the path bar.

Could you give me some more details of your installation?
Client OpSys, PHP version, Browser Version, Version of jsCalendar and HTMLarea

Could you also give an example of how you're using it? Please post an excerpt of the field definition that you're using and also the header lines that include the javascript.

Thanks ajh... and thanks for the effort in merging these extensions!!

PHP: 4.3.3
HTMLArea: 3.0
jsCalendar: 0.9.6

Local Browser:
Tested: IE6 WinXP, IE5 MacOSX, Netscape 7 MacOSX, Safari MacOSX
[actually works in Netscape 7 Mac!!??.. but no others]

Javascript:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="jscalendar/calendar.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="jscalendar/lang/calendar-en.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="jscalendar/calendar-setup.js"></script>

<script type="text/javascript">
   _editor_url = "HTMLArea/";
   _editor_lang = "en";
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="HTMLArea/htmlarea.js"></script>

Calling Script:
Code:
$opts['fdd']['description'] = array(
  'name'     => 'The Story',
  'select'   => 'T',
  'help'     => 'Full-Text of the Story',
  'options'  => 'ACPVDF',
  'textarea' => array(
   'html' => true,
    'rows' => 9,
    'cols' => 30),
  'required' => true,
  'sort'     => true
);

require_once 'phpMyEdit-htmlcal.class.php';
new phpMyEdit_htmlcal($opts);

Again, the Calendar work beautifully. Although not so well in browsers other than IE6 WinXP. Wont come up in Safari (I'd love to have this available to my mac users)

As far as HTMLArea goes, I get the top bar w/ buttons and then directly below it, the bottom where it says Path: Body when the page loads for the first time. Of course, if I mess with the buttons, the bottom bar reflects the tags that have been generated. But there is literally no space between the top and bottom, no real textarea.

The HTML generated for the full row where HTMLArea should be working:
Code:
<tr class="pme-row-1">
<td class="pme-key-1">The Story</td>
<td class="pme-value-1">
<textarea class="pme-input-1" name="description" id="pme_id_description"  rows="9" cols="30" wrap="virtual"></textarea>
</td>
<td class="pme-help-1">Full-Text of the Story</td>
</tr>

Your advice is appreciatiated!!! Thanks

Ben

I've reproduced a problem with Firefox 0.9 and IE 6.0 which looks as if it's down to a clash of style sheets which I need to look at. I had the same problem with jsCalendar which is why I recommend the change in the jsCalendar style sheet.

BTW - be careful if you copy the script commands from the extension comments - I've just noticed I misspelt jscalend e r - it should be jscalend a r of course.

Just to test, could you try removing the PME generated STYLE block from the header of your calling script? PME itself will look horrible, but check if the calendar starts working properly.

BTW - I don't think that you're going to get any of this working properly on Safari. In theory jsCalendar should work but is untested. HTMLarea definitely won't work as it uses IE and Mozilla/Gecko specific calls to do the HTML editing. As Safari is based on KHTML it won't work.

OK. I tried removing the CSS altogether and then just the jscalendar CSS. No change.

Any other ideas? Here is what the HTMLArea is looking like:

Image

Something is blatently wrong with how I have implemented this, no?? It works in the test scripts that come with the HTMLArea files. I'm stumped.

Sorry - I probably didn't make myself clear...you need to leave the htmlarea.css and whichever jsCalendar css file you've chosen in place. What I'd like you to do is to remove the following from the file that phpMyEditSetup generated:
Code:

<style type="text/css">
   table { border: #004d9c 1px solid; border-collapse: collapse; border-spacing: 0px; width: 100%; }
   th    { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 4px; background: #add8e6; }
   td    { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   hr    { border: 0px solid; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; border-top-width: 1px; height: 1px; }
</style>

The see if it works.

I can't reproduce your missing field problem - the problem I'm getting is that the table used to format the buttons is screwed up by PME's default STYLE commands.

Just for your reference, I'm using the latest PME from the CVS and the version of 'htmlcal' that posted to bug report 224.

OK - I've sorted the formatting problem that I have, I'm not sure it's going to fix yours. Basically the standard STYLE commands generated by the PME setup script interfere with the styles for everything else. As PME does generate class information, it's pretty straightforward to fix this with an updated STYLE commands:
Code:

<style type="text/css">
   table.pme-main    { border: #004d9c 1px solid; border-collapse: collapse; border-spacing: 0px; width: 100%; }
   td.pme-key-0      { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   td.pme-value-0  { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   td.pme-help-0   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   td.pme-key-1      { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   td.pme-value-1  { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   td.pme-help-1   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   td.pme-sortinfo { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   td.pme-filter   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   td.pme-navigation-0   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   td.pme-cell-0   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   td.pme-navigation-1   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   td.pme-cell-1   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
   th.pme-header   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 4px; background: #add8e6; }
   hr.pme-hr      { border: 0px solid; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; border-top-width: 1px; height: 1px; }
</style>

If you replace the STYLE commands with the above in your calling script the formatting gets fixed (also avoids the need to change the jsCalendar style sheet).

I've checked this in both IE6 and FF0.9 on XP.

I've submitted bug report 259 with an updated version of PMESetup which generates this style sheet.

Another thought looking at the image you posted...have you created your own style sheet? If so, could you try switching it off and just using the default one from PMESetup to see if that works (having made the changes above). The row with this field is pink on your picture, which implies something is set for 'pme-row-1' - have you set a height attribute or something like that?

My gut feel is that this is a style sheet issue - and that something is overriding the HTMLArea style sheet which is what is causing the problem.

ajh.. thanks for all your help.

Unfortunately I'm about leave town till Tuesday. So I wont be able to test anything until then.

I AM using a style sheet but it's not the default one for PME. In fact, the CSS only defines a few PME related styles, like row color, links, and font size. Nothing is defined in the way of row height. However, maybe the problem is that I have nothing defined for other PME styles??

I'll be in touch when I get back and hopefully we'll get somewhere. Thanks again!

sorry for that ridiculous delay. So, I am probably overriding something with my CSS, huh? I actually never ever use phpMyEditSetup so I have no clue what style sheet that generates. I have been using my own style sheet in all cases when using phpMyEdit. Hmmm... so what should I look out for? I'll futz around with this and post my results.

Thanks

Ben

Suggest that you have a look at phpMyEditSetup just to look at the style sheet it generates (it's the same for every table, so you could just generate one). Use the version that I posted on bug report 259 as that definitely does not clash with htmlarea.

I suspect that you might find the problem somewhere in the table section of the style sheet. Probably te best way of isolating that is to remove your style sheet and just put in the style commands generated by the setup program and see if that works.

Ajh,

Thanks but I am still having issues with this.

I have the following CSS only:
Code:
table.pme-main    { border: #004d9c 1px solid; border-collapse: collapse; border-spacing: 0px; width: 100%; }
td.pme-key-0      { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
td.pme-value-0  { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
td.pme-help-0   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
td.pme-key-1      { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
td.pme-value-1  { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
td.pme-help-1   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
td.pme-sortinfo { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
td.pme-filter   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
td.pme-navigation-0   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
td.pme-cell-0   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
td.pme-navigation-1   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
td.pme-cell-1   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 3px; }
th.pme-header   { border: #004d9c 1px solid; padding: 4px; background: #add8e6; }
hr.pme-hr      { border: 0px solid; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; border-top-width: 1px; height: 1px; }

I have it working in Mozilla Firefox but not IE6/WinXP. Argghh. Anything you can spot? It looks the same my image I posted above.

Ajh,

I potentially have another clue for ya. I don't know javascript well enough to assess the problem but maybe this could help.

OK.. so when I click the INSERT IMAGE button, or the ADD A WEB LINK button, I get the pop-up that you normally get. However, when I click the ENLARGE EDITOR button, I get (in IE) an error on page warning. When I click the error I get this:

Error: 'HTMLArea' is Undefined
in .../HTMLArea/popups/fullscreen.html
Line 72
Char 2

Does this help you to debug the situation?

Ajh,

OK. So now I have stripped my entire page down where the only HTML after the BODY tag is phpMyEdit script... and it works in IE!!!

HOWEVER, as soon as I wrap a TABLE around the phpMyEdit area, my problem occurs again. Is it possible to have a TABLE around my phpMyEdit TABLE when it includes an HTMLArea? In other words, I'd like to nest the phpMyEdit table within another table which contains site navigation. Is this possible? If so, how can I avoid having the textfield vanish?
