Here is the problem..

I have a VERY big drop down combobox which is created by a few of some other tables.
I use this combo to filter the results of a big database.

What will greatly help is one of these 2:
1. Ability to have an option select => DT for the fields. SO I have 2 options for filtering the results from combo and by typing part of the name.

2. Another option would be to display just the textbox in the list mode and the combo in the details/edit form.

I'm trying to create a hack for this.
If there is a way to do any of the above without a hack?
(of cource if anyone have already done this ,pls post the hack :) )

Thanks

(1) Create a hack. Or, make 2 forms, one with D option and another with T option.

(2) For Change mode, create a lookup

http://opensource.platon.sk/projects/doc.php/phpMyEdit/html/configuration.input-restrictions.html

Code:
$opts['fdd']['col_name']['values']['db']     = 'mydb'; // optional
$opts['fdd']['col_name']['values']['table']  = 'mytable';
$opts['fdd']['col_name']['values']['column'] = 'id';
$opts['fdd']['col_name']['values']['description']['columns'][0] = 'name_last';
$opts['fdd']['col_name']['values']['description']['divs'][0]    = ', ';
$opts['fdd']['col_name']['values']['description']['columns'][1] = 'name_first';
$opts['fdd']['col_name']['values']['filters'] = 'id IN (1,2,3)'; // optional WHERE clause
$opts['fdd']['col_name']['values']['orderby'] = 'last_name'; // optional ORDER BY clause

Thanks for the quick reply...
I missed that the solution (2) was already implemented if I enter "t" as select and add the lines you posted.

:)
